They wanted to create an operating system that was simple, written in a high level language, and one that allowed the re-use of its code. Unix of course caught on, and became the basis of many flavours: FreeBSD, Linux, NetBSD, OpenBSD and so on. However, like other operating systems it requires common sense and the implementation of security. This section of e-Security World will eventually explore many aspect of unix security, as well as offering basic tools and utilities.
